WHAT WE CHECK AND WHY

The mismatches that cost money

Weights and packages

The B/L and IGM must agree with the packing list. A short or excess package count, or a gross weight that does not match, is one of the most common reasons for a hold or an amendment fee.

Parties and identifiers

The consignee on the B/L, the buyer on the invoice and the IEC and GSTIN must line up with the Bill of Entry or Shipping Bill. A spelling difference can delay the delivery order.

Containers and seals

Container numbers carry a check digit (ISO 6346). A typo is caught instantly, and seal numbers must match what is on the container at the gate.

Incoterm and freight

FOB or FCA usually means freight collect, CFR or CIF freight prepaid. When they disagree, confirm who pays: it also changes the value customs assesses duty on.

Questions people ask

Are my documents uploaded anywhere?+

No. The checker runs entirely in your browser. Your invoice, packing list, B/L and AWB are read on your own device and are never sent to YAM or stored anywhere. Close the page and they are gone.

What does it check?+

Shipper and consignee names, gross and net weights, number of packages, container and seal numbers, HS codes, IEC and GSTIN, the invoice number, ports of loading and discharge, the Incoterm against the freight terms, container check digits and, for air, the AWB check digit, pieces and chargeable weight.

Why do mismatches matter?+

Customs and shipping lines compare these documents. A different weight, package count or consignee name can lead to a hold, an examination, an IGM, B/L or AWB amendment fee, or a delay in getting the delivery order.

It misread a value. What now?+

Click the value in the results table and type the correct one; the check updates immediately. Text PDFs are read most accurately; scans and phone photos are read with OCR and can contain errors.

Does it replace my customs broker?+

No. It is a quick first check. Your customs broker should still review the documents before filing. If you want YAM to review them, message us on WhatsApp.
